Port Augusta Restoration Project

A world first recovery program on an ash pit, using a soil cap and vegetation to establish a stable, self sustaining and resilient system on the edge of the regional city of Port Augusta. A high risk of dust pollution is associated with the site and it's ash as well as the fine particulate soil used for the cap.

Waterloo Wind Farm

The Waterloo Wind Farm (130 MW) comprises 43 turbines that are spread along 5 acres of a north-south rocky ridge. Succession Ecology has been involved in recovery works for this site since 2011.

Restoring Landfill Sites

Succession Ecology have been providing revegetation and land management services for Inkerman and Nurioopta landfill sites since 2012. These sites are covered with a cap and revegetated with varying native species.

Cultana Solar Project

Succession Ecology worked closely with SIMEC Energy to determine effective site preparation and dust management strategies for a 280 MW solar project in arid South Australia.

Gawler East Link Road

The Gawler East Linked Road (GELR) project involved the construction of transport infrastructure for the township of Gawler and surrounds. Constructions will take place around habitat of EPBC-listed species.

A Successional Approach

Succession Ecology's unique approach to revegetation involves a ‘ground up’ methodology, which floods a site with seeds of native colonising species. The use of colonising species provides rapid site stabilisation and initiates the process of recovery to build ecosystem function. These species add organic carbon to the soil, attract invertebrates, deposit seed, compete with weeds and provide cover. Colonising species in the arid zone can reproduce within 6–8 weeks of rainfall, bolstering the seedbank. These attributes provide a great catalyst for building ecosystems in the arid zone.
