A revegetation project for the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR). We revegetated 10 hectares using the 'bottom up' approach that Succession Ecology promotes. This project included supply and sowing of 200 kg of native grass and chenopod seed, and planting of 2,500 plants.
We conducted surveys in winter of 2017, one year on from the seeding. The site is showing good progress, with natives maturing and setting seed, adding to the soil seedbank. We expect that in subsequent years, native chenopods and grasses will begin to shade out dominant weeds have been an ongoing problem at the site, which has a long history of stock grazing.
